Cloisonné enamel box

A cloisonné box is a lidded metal container whose wire cells hold fired enamel across the exterior surface.

Cloisonné enamel box · Orienda research record

Small boxes are useful study objects because lid, hinge, rim, interior and base expose more construction than a single decorative face. A complete record photographs all of them.

Weight, cold touch and visible wire can be clues, but none alone proves enamel, age or place of manufacture. The object needs a documented chain of evidence.
