Su embroidery
Su embroidery is a needlework tradition associated with Suzhou, known for controlled silk stitches, tonal modelling and pictorial surfaces.
Su embroidery is not a guarantee attached to any silk picture sold in Suzhou. A useful record needs the stitch structure, ground, thread, workshop or maker, and an account of how the object was attributed.
Future field records will photograph fronts, reverses and unfinished edges at a consistent scale so the technique can be compared rather than merely admired.
